Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Phyllis Everette.
Local nonprofit offers free meals for Central Texans.
Meals are being organized by the Saffron Trust Women's Foundation and are easy to heat up or freeze for later.
Women's foundation Saffron Trust sees increased need for food during holiday season
Phyllis Everette used to be hungry.
"When we’re talking about generational poverty, we’re talking about housing instability, food insecurity, educational issues," she said. "All those things affected me."

Phyllis Everette imagines she has a heart for Black women that is similar to the heart Jesus has for all of humanity.
“I am every Black woman’s best friend,” she says. “My suffering has given me an x-ray vision into the soul of other women. … I understand Black women’s pain across the board.”

Everette is the founder of Saffron Trust, an organization that helps women and families thrive.
Partnering with Saffron Trust Women’s Foundation to Employ Austinites and Feed Families in Need
The COVID19 pandemic caused millions of people nationwide to experience food insecurity, including many families in Austin, where the most marginalized communities were disproportionately impacted. Providing families with an opportunity for food and financial security is Saffron Trust Women’s Foundation, and they’re doing it in partnership with Workforce Solutions Capital Area.
Saffron Trust provides single mothers and their children the opportunity to experience the best.
Black mothers in particular, who face the unique circumstance of alarmingly high mortality rates during and post-childbirth, should never have to beg for the right to live comfortably.
